Can he take his AB's in Yankee Stadium?
I think most of his fly balls would still die on the track in StL.

Would this end well? I wanna see what we can do to fill the roster out, without going back to that well. If we have an opening for an invite around when camp starts, sure.

Seemed like he caught some lightning in a bottle for a while in NY.
Agree with both comments above regarding Busch and no shift.
I am inclined to pass, in favor of more versatile options from the left side.

Need to lift the ban on Medwick's Ghost so we can get his take.

Re: Free Agent Matt Carpenter
The dumb idea of banning the shift makes the dumb idea of signing Carpenter a little less dumb. He might be able to reclaim that doubles machine status he had a few seasons ago. But....eh. I'm a fan but how much better does he make the team really?

Re: Free Agent Matt Carpenter
I would go with other options first that have more defensive versatility. If he's still a free agent in late December and we haven't been able to acquire a better option from the left side of the plate then sure give him a 1 year deal.

Nope, his xHR is 15 and his actual is 15. 13/15 are homers in Busch. But some of his flyouts/doubles in parks like Fenway are likely homers at Busch. Yankee Stadium merchant thing is overrated. Judge was the same way, Judge would have hit 73 at Coors. He hits mammoth shots, just like Carpenter did.Popeye_Card wrote: ↑November 15 22, 11:56 amCan he take his AB's in Yankee Stadium?

his shortest homer: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-v ... 506eeb3fb4 Likely a homer at Busch too.
Dmarx is right though. Pass for Gorman and Burleson and Donovan. Carpenter is overload at LH bench. Edman switch hits too.
