Please get Murphy. Would be low key Arenado level if Mo can pull it off. Keep Walker and send them whatever they want.

There's like 4-5 real decent to great catchers and then a huge drop off of in a sea of mediocrity. Go get Murphy!

A team with a decent option at a position, but still looking to upgrade because it'll make the team better

What a novel concept.
I’d rather just have little Contreras over murphy anyway

A’s don’t need a catcher

So going with 3 catchers? Or trading in a separate deal?

Like I said if I’m the braves, I like my guy (Contreras) more than murphy, so why trade for him

Oh well, we’ll see soon

(I want Jansen as I’ve said many times anyway so don’t really care)
That's fair, I was just speaking more on the the overall theme of how the team doesn't feel the need to make upgrades at certain positions just because we have a warm body there that isn't terrible.

Yeah. That's why when we had Matt Carpenter we refused to trade for Arenado until the Rockies chipped in 50 mill

Few transactions could surprise me more than the Cardinals signing Contreras. It would be a complete contradiction to everything they supposedly believe and value.

Not being snarky - in what way? Is there a 'non-Cardinals-Way' scandal I'm not aware of?

He’s a [expletive] defensive catcher and the team is built around pitching and defense.

It doesn't feel like this is what would happen, but I hope the FO doesn't fixate on one player and if they don't get him then make do with what they got. They have done this in the past.

and he's also the best (RE: Most expensive) free agent at his position.

It seems likely that an outfielder and/or Gorman get traded for a catcher and in that case I'd be interested in Contreras as a backup catcher and super utility guy, but I really don't know enough about his defense and it's even harder to say what the Cardinals evaluation of him is. There's invariably plenty of playing time for everyone.
