Very interesting. Goldschmidt's top two by-age comps are Pedro Guerrero and Lou Gehrig. Ok then!

Also, it has DeJong hitting 20 HR. No further comment on that.
Jumped out at me too, but that's him playing full time and 90 OPS+.

I love that Brendan Donovan somehow comps to Jose Oquendo and Edgar Martinez.

Those 20 HR for DeJong are his only hits though.

My think the Cards are a 89-93 win team and not quite in the tier of the very best in baseball, but ZiPS disagrees, putting St. Louis in the same range as the Padres, Astros, Braves, Dodgers, and Mets. My personal feeling is that the Cards really need a true ace at the top of the rotation, but perhaps that’s just my inclination to play devil’s advocate. ZiPS has beat me before (see the Tigers last year!).
Zips pretty much has the Cardinals up there with the best teams in baseball.
A lot of praise for the Cards org in the comments of that FG article.

Updated Zips from Fangraphs

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-zips-mi ... gs-update/

They have us finishing 79-83, tied for third place with the Cubs.
The Cardinals are in the same boat, projections-wise, as the Mets are, in that ZiPS sees them as having a fairly strong roster but with too many losses already to have a good shot at October baseball. If anything, they might be better off with worse projections; a team that stinks and is projected to stink might force some clarity in the front office’s decision-making, which feels a bit muddled right now. As for first place, ZiPS expects the Brewers to handle the Reds and might even be slightly overrating Cincy; I think there’s a good chance that it’s too optimistic about the Reds adding talent this deadline.

Just what Mo said they couldn't do. He underestimates their abilities.
