Ken Boyer isn’t even close to the level Rolen is and I would probably say that for Rolen’s Cardinal years only.
Rolen is probably my favorite player of all time and I don't think there's anyone I would take over him for one game, peak and healthy, but it is in fact close. This is Rolen's Cardinals years (a little Philly in there with the trade season) and Boyer's peak. Boyer put up 39 WAR to Rolen's 29 - obviously battling some injuries here.
I just mean Rolen (got to count his Beltre level defense too) is deserving to be on that wall. Seems like national guys get it. I don’t think Boyer is bad I just think Rolen is so underrated.
He might be the first short-window Cardinal up there but he deserves it and the number retirement too. This ain’t a Lee Smith type situation.
Does he get put up on the left field wall? Some Cardinal HoF'ers aren't. Have no idea what criteria they use.
Isn’t that reserved for national HOFers?
He will be added. Number probably retired too. Ken Boyer isn’t even close to the level Rolen is and I would probably say that for Rolen’s Cardinal years only.
oops - didn't say that right. I mean Cardinals in Cooperstown. Like Bottomley, Frisch, Haines, Medwick, and Mize. Not on the left field wall even though the majority of their career, if not all, was spent with the Cardinals.
I don't remember Boyer or Brooks Robinson or really even Schmidt as players but I always thought Rolen was the best third baseman I'd ever seen, until I watched Arenado on a regular basis. To me Arenado has an edge but I sure wouldn't want to live on the difference.
Really glad to see Rolen make it. Deserving and I always liked the dude.

I thought he played way longer in Phlly than he did SL but it wasn't much different. Cinny would really surprise me because his years there probably almost cost him his sure-fire HOF-ness. I don't think he'll hold LaRussa against St Louis but who knows? And to be honest, I don't particularly care.
