Re: Mikolas extended
Makes sense. They only had 1 starter signed through this season (Matz).
I'm hoping Monty gets an extension too.

That's an alarming quote by Montgomery. Seems like he feels he's being low balled.

Seems they clearly pivoted to Mikolas. Just for insurance to have bodies next year.
Looks like he's gone if they don't get something very soon done. I might change my bold prediction. I can't imagine Cards want to compete with the open market that will be low on quality FAs.
He's a guy who could go from good to elite a la Robbie Ray/Kevin Gausman types, IMO. He has one of the best knacks for creating weak contact in all of baseball. Extremely durable too. They should try to ink him.

Re: Mikolas extended
I dont think they moved on; but Miles was probably the easier of the camps to get something done quickly. Even if they did extend Monty, they still dont have anybody beyond him signed for next year. Now they have 2 guys, rather than one. In a vacuum, you can sign the guy that wants to be here, and also continue to talk with the guy who's yet to pitch a whole season for the best franchise in baseball. I hope Jordan pitches his tail off, becomes a CY finalist, and forces the Cards to pay him $100 million dollars.

Would be tough to see the Cards extending him if he pitches that well and then hits free agency.MinorLeagueGuy wrote: ↑March 24 23, 1:04 pmI dont think they moved on; but Miles was probably the easier of the camps to get something done quickly.
