A prosecutor in the Dominican Republic says an investigation into Tampa Bay Rays All-Star shortstop Wander Franco is being handled by a division specializing in minors and gender violence in the province of Peravia.

Ángel Darío Tejeda Fabal, a prosecutor in Peravia, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the investigation into Franco is open under the National Agency for Boys, Girls, Adolescents and Family and Gender Violence Unit. He said the inquiry is in its early stages and will be chaired by Chief Prosecutor Olga Diná Llaverías, a specialist in child abuse cases.

"This is a very delicate topic because there is a minor involved," Tejeda Fabal said. "We are working together [with Llaverías]."

Apropos of nothing really but what happens to those sexually active 17-year old couples in high school when one of them turns 18? Do kids these days know they have to abstain until the other turns 18 so they don't become a registered sex offender?

I believe that a 17 year old is allowed to have sex with someone within 2 years of them. So a 19 year old sleeping with a 17 year old isn't that big of a deal. It would be ridiculous to expect all young people not to have sex at all until they're 18 if they're sleeping with people their own age.
