Yadi will probably be the last cardinal I see with a 15+ year career and only plays for the organization. I do not see any upside with making him the manager. Especially with the current ownership. He’s also a major hothead. Unless he mellows out with age, it could go south really fast.
I also get nervous when all-time great players are made into managers. A guy like skip is perfect because he was a grinder his entire career. He can relate to the average MLB player and knows what it’s like to get benched etc. fringe guys must have extreme attention to detail and look for an edge.
Listening to pujols talk about hitting is pretty bad. He’s a great example of feel versus real, and not actually understanding what’s happening with his body when he plays.
Not to say he doesn’t have an intuitive understanding of the game, clearly he does. I don’t know how that conveys as a manager. If analytics mean anything to him, etc..

Leroy-Leroy HE'S OUR MAN! If he can't do it, no one can.

I picked skip just because some experience. If Yadi or Albert had equivalent, I’d go Yadi. I just think he’s cool.

I picked Yadi because someone someday needs to break the Bobby Cox ejections record.

If Yadi, Skip, and Leroy are all hired, you could have a manage-a-trois.

I am surprised Albert doesn't have more votes; though I get the support for Yadi and Skip. Albert is also a great baseball mind.

He is, but I think WAR God said it perfectly. Albert and Yadi are too iconic to understand what it's like for young players with less talent.CardsofSTL wrote: ↑November 1 24, 7:11 pmI am surprised Albert doesn't have more votes; though I get the support for Yadi and Skip. Skip knows what it's like to scrap for every chance, hustle on every play. He understands the gravity of sending players down, or benching them, or playing them in new positions. He's been on some great teams and some not so great teams. He's seen more organizations and how they run to learn what to do and what not to do. He had good fundamentals and was a good clubhouse guy. Albert and Yadi were rockstars.
