Murphy probably deserves it but I am surprised he got 27 1st place votes. I expected Shildt to get a few and I thought media would be all in on Mendoza with the Mets turning it around this season. Those three would have gotten my votes in some order. Even though Murphy is a Knute Rockne looking bastard.
I think voters just look at payroll vs performance for this award. Padres and Mets payroll was too high to get those managers.
I thought the vote for Marmol was joke and indefensible. But then I see the Mets added 14 wins from 2023, the Padres added 11 wins from 2023, and the Cards added 12. And the Cardinals well outplayed their run differential so maybe thats a reason for a vote.

Can't argue with either of those. My fantasy team this year was first named Skubal Snacks, then Skubaldi Toilet. He was the glue that held us out of last place.
