so how does what is rapidly approaching a lost season for Taveras affect his eventual arrival time, if at all? Enough to make the Beltran departure this offseason more interesting?

Since Beltran and Craig can't play center, it's a moot point IMO. If Oscar is ready, he'll be in center. If he's not, Jay will.

Yeah, I agree.

His split on defense by games has been 127/21/1 in CF/RF/LF the last season and a half in AA and AAA. He hasn't played much serious corner OF since Quad Cities.

The plan seems to be to either make him the CF or make him play his way off CF, and I don't think he's done anything to do the latter. At the MLB level, the disparity between Jay and Craig/Beltran is helping the case for installing Taveras as the CF by opening day 2014.

Beltran's quality play this year has probably done more to impact Taveras' ETA than anything with Taveras. If you'd asked me 3 months ago I'd have guessed that a Beltran injury would necessitate a healthy and mashing Taveras being called up, but the shoe is on the other foot.

I keep asking but I don't get an answer, anyone know how he has looked in CF? Is he developing to the point where he could play CF in the big leagues?

Hey - idea: What if we considered Taveras in CF? Is that possibility? Could he play that position in the big leagues?
