Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
I think the playoffs are just all but done with Thomas and broberg out for a long time. I can see them hanging close to 500 for awhile, but I think this year is all about the kids and building for the future.
While I was sad about. Broberg’s injury, I was pretty excited for PO Joseph to get a chance in the top 4.
-4 last night is rough, but this is the year to let the kids play and see what they have.

Up 2-0 after two periods against Boston, and looking really good.
Then the wheels fall off and we give up 3 unanswered in the third and lose. Don't even muster a point. Brutal.

I don't understand the Kyrou hate that a portion of fandom have.
He's incredibly similar to Vladimir Tarasenko at this age. Tarasenko was justly criticized for his lack of defensive awareness but overall was a fan favorite. He made a few more highlight reel goals than Kyrou, and he scored a few more goals.
But overall they are very similar. Tarasenko's big contract was a higher % of the cap than Kyrous. So Kyrou is arguable slightly less talented than Tarasenko making slightly less money.
The other difference is Tarasenko came up and played in a very defensive minded team. Maybe we should give him additonal credit for scoring a similar amount of goals as Kyrou on a more defensive minded in a lower scoring era, but I still think my argument stands that Kyrou is a similar player but has a very different attitude from fans.

I think it’s a couple things
1 is his comments after berube was fired. Berube was a big fan favorite. Kyrou got some hate before the firing/comments, but they really seemed to get louder since then.
2 his contract is the same as Thomas and Thomas is the superior overall player. Not his fault, but I think that has something to do with it.
I have 0 issues with kyrou and actually think he’s really improved his defensive game (still not great), but yes he does make dumb moves at times. His giveaway at the end of the game a couple games ago really cost us, but he’s also driving the offensive plays a lot more.

Another game, another defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.

We played a decent game again. But MN is just a really strong team. Tough games against Carolina and Minnesota back to back. Played pretty well against both of them. Had lots of opportunities. But they were just clearly better at the end of the game.
We are really lacking that scoring touch. We need finishers. Guys that can find the back of the net 40+ times a year. I don't think Kyrou, Buchnevich or Neighbors will ever be that Kaprisov/Necas type dynamic player. Will Dvorsky? Snuggerud? We'd better hope so.
Sort the league leaders by points, and our top player on the list is Kyrou. Want to guess what number he's at on the list?
Yikes.
