Here's the thing about the War on Woke. A lot of these guys (and they are mostly all caucasian guys) are talking about violence to stem this 'woke revolution'. Violence instead of - what? Showing respect? Treating people the way you expect to be treated? What's so wrong about being a decent human being? I don't get the outrage.

This is a bit off topic, but my theory is that their behavior is similar to a baby's. When a baby can't effectively communicate what it wants, it cries or throws a temper tantrum. Maybe even lashes out physically. Since these guys can't effectively communicate why they are against a changing of the old ways, they resort to feelings of anger or rage (lashing out). Part of their lack of communication may be that they don't want to verbalize their anti-equality sentiments because they don't want to admit they're scared... either of what the consequences could be to their professional and/or personal lives, or what a new way of doing things means for their "status" in the world. Or they don't want to admit they're scared because they think it will make them look weak, and... you know... alpha 'til we die and all that.

Violence is the easy, less intelligent option because it doesn't require as much thinking. It's just caveman, brute force, grunt, mmm, ugh. Since they can't articulate themselves in an effective way, it's their only option (besides admitting that we can do things better, which they'll never do).

I'd also like to hear @sighyoung's take on my theory. I may be way off base.

My own personal experience is with a boss who I worked for for three years until he came out as trans and is now she. Going through all the surgeries etc. at 60 years of age. Personally, whatever floats your boat. But now she wants to discuss her social life and weekend parties, etc. I get it -she is finally allowed to feel things and experience things she has never let herself experience. It's got to be exhilerating, etc. But personally, it still makes me uncomfortable to discuss that stuff. And I would never talk about my sex life at work with anyone either. It's not the place.

Now, our company has been supporting her 100%. And I support that 100%. But I also know through my sexual harassment training, talking about what she wants to talk about and my being uncomfortable about that qualifies as reportable. Now, do any of us think if I did report my unease that I would be seen as the victim? I would be very surprised.

Now, I can live with that. I listen to her and tell her how happy I am for her and her new life. And honestly, I am. But I would never tell her or anyone in a position to do anything about it that I would really rather she left her personal life to herself.

However, a lot of my old, caucasian buddies would have a different spin on it.

whatevs you want to call it. If I get blow back because of my honesty, you now know why so many are so angry at the 'woke' world. I'm respecting my boss, I'm supportive of her, I'm uncomfortable hearing details of her personal life. Is that worthy of blow back? Of being 'canceled'? To me it's like I admitted I don't like broccoli and people would think less of me for that. How's about we ALL let bygones be bygones, eh?

Oh no, I’m sorry. I absolutely wasn’t sincerely calling you phobic, only teasingly. It just reminded me of that old sketch. But I don’t think there’s really any reading of my post that makes that possible let alone clear. I apologize.

Your situation is an interesting juxtaposition of power dynamics set against a growing pains period in culture. I thought a laugh might be due.

Alaska Airlines is out as kit sponsor.

Very hopeful Tillamook steps in as they did for the second team previously. Font and logo are excellent, and it’s a beloved OG Oregon treasure

Oh my God, the Timbers are hiring Neville.

For a club trying to prove it can compete and, having betrayed trust, prove it isn’t run by dicks: this is Chernobyl-level [expletive].

Unbelievable.
