PRO wrestling thread

Post by Jocephus »

Let me preface that I haven't watched any WWE programming since probably like, 2005. I'm also not into the various independent promotions going on right now or ring of honor or TnA, etc. So in that sense I dont consider myself a fan. But I grew up with the wild characters of the 80s as a youngster and the attitude era as a teen and i enjoy the nostalgia. I also enjoy the "shoot" interviews of some of the personalities and I'm enjoying learning about the old "territory" days prior to Vince Jr changing the game up. So, I may be the only one who uses this thread but I'm gonna put up random related videos.

also, some of the documentaries are WWE produced so they get final say on how the history has been written. i know some wrestlers get annoyed by that, et al, as not an accurate picture.

we'll start off with Ric Flair and the 4 horsemen.

I don't follow as closely as I did even a year or two ago, but WWE is at as low of a point as I can remember. I still get the major PPVs, but the Royal Rumble was as poorly booked as it could be.

Jim Ross is such a carny. He did a whole thing about how he'd had no contact with Jeff Jarrett when it came to him announcing that international show they did a few months ago (was it New Japan?) and how he'd never been approached to do it...then lo and behold, about a week later, it's "Hey! I'm commentating on this New Japan show!"

In other words, "I'm an old man who still sulks like a child when someone releases news about me before I do".

I watch Raw every week almost and get the WWE network so I get all the pay per views. I really like the people down in NXT. It is kind of like baseball, I'll still watch it when it's not great.
