Blues need to get things straightened up and banking some points, because April and May are brutal.
They did just go 4-0-2 for 10 out of 12 possible points (granted, after losing 3 or 4 in a row, too).
What they really need is to get their centers back. As st.lewis pointed out, they are down an entire squad of quality centermen.
Going a bit further out, since the playoff round against Arizona, the Blues have gone 5-3-2 against the 3 worst teams in the division, with 2 of the wins in OT and all of the wins by 1 goal. 12 points out of a possible 20.
I realize that they need to get players back, especially centers. But if they continue to play at this level, points are going to be hard to come by in April.
Binner signed. 6/$36m
I was hoping for a year or two less at a mill or so less, but I've thought that about, I think, literally every deal the Blues signed over $2m/per, so that means its probably about right.
Anyone who watches hockey with any regularity knows that the refs miss calls, blow calls, and regularly assign BS "make-up" penalty calls to "even things out". And man, there have been entire seasons where I've sworn it wasn't just my homerism but that the refs were really out to stick it to the Blues. So, this "revelation" is not a surprise to me at all. But this ref is DEFINITELY not the only one doing this sh!t.
Also, it's pretty clear that the Blues are mediocre this year. LV and Col are the class of the Western division. Heck, even LA is making us look bad.
Sunny out all year, Bozak was only back for a couple of games and is out again. Thomas is back but still missing Gunnarson, Parayko, Barbashev... and Tarasenko and Hoffman are not doing much for former 30 goal scorers. Tarasenko may still just be rusty, but what is Hoffman's excuse?
If we make it to the playoffs, I don't have much hope for a deep run at this point. IF we get healthy before the playoffs begin and can start to play the way they did in '19 then we could still get somewhere, but until that happens, I'm not holding my breath.
