At $5m he was too expensive, but he’s a really good role player. Great 4th liner. Really good third liner. Can have occasional stints in a scoring line. At the right price those guys are very valuable. I’d have been fine with him coming about for around (a bit under $2m, and I’d have been ecstatic at $1.5m ish)
I'm glad he's back. He's a solid vet, does all the little things, good at fundamentals, & I've read the team considers him a great mentor for the young players.JCShutout wrote: ↑September 16 21, 9:20 pmAt $5m he was too expensive, but he’s a really good role player. Basically league minimum is great. No risk. If he turns into a pumpkin, it’s a minimal gamble. (And he is unlikely to not at least be a solid 4th liner, for face off wins alone)
He is basically getting 1.5 million because he has a $750k bonus for playing 10 games, which he will do easily if he isn’t hurt. There are another $500k in bonuses for additional games played and Blues progression in the playoffs.JCShutout wrote: ↑September 16 21, 9:20 pmAt $5m he was too expensive, but he’s a really good role player.
