The 2022 NHL Draft will be held July 7-8 at Bell Centre in Montreal. The first round will be July 7 (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS) and rounds 2-7 are July 8 (11 a.m. ET; NHLN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS).
- The Blues traded their second-round pick in the 2022 Draft (No. 55) to the New York Rangers along with Sammy Blais to acquire Pavel Buchnevich in July 2021. New York then traded the pick to Winnipeg at the 2022 Trade Deadline to acquire forward Andrew Copp.
- In September 2020, the Blues traded their 2022 seventh-round pick (No. 216), along with goaltender Jake Allen, to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for two picks in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 2020 picks were used on Dylan Peterson (No. 86) and Noah Beck (No. 194).
- When the Blues acquired Logan Brown from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Zach Sanford, they also received a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2022 Draft. However, Brown played over 30 regular season games (39 GP) and the trade conditions were met, so the Senators will keep their fourth-round pick (No. 103).
That is terrible value for one of the league's best scorers who is 24. Then they compounded that by trading Kirby Dach. I think the Hawks made a terrible move last year with the Seth Jones trade when they should've continued their rebuild. Now they are going scorched Earth, but only selling their youth. I'm very happy they did this as a Blues fan, but I can't see them being competitive for years unless they get lucky and win the Bedard lottery next year.
