Lots of talk now that Berube has completely lost the team. Thomas contradicted his claim that the leaders don't care about the team.

RT is probably more right than Berube, but you can't be spatting publicly with the coach.

Rough times ahead. Ugh

My first thought on the kapanen move was, “oh nice, he seems like a guy who would fit on the bottom 6.” Didn’t realize his salary, though that’s not a terrible if he’s a third line anchor. It’s probably “fine”.

Wondering if this is to replace barbie. (When he’s eventually moved)

I keep hearing rumors on blues dmen being sought in trades. I’m sure it’s just clickbait. I wish it were true though. I think we just gotta sit through 2-3 rough years and hope guys we have find their role and/or show enough to be worth a flier to another team when the cap starts going up.

Barbs to Vegas for Zach Dean; who was their 2021 1st round pick

This seems like a pretty dang good return for a FA to be in Barbashev

So to recap (so far, as I’m hoping we can still move a defenseman or 2)…

Blues have given up…

O’Reilly
Tarasenko
Mikkola
Acciari
Barbashev

Blues have received…

Sammy Blais (he’s a FA to be also)
Zach Dean
Hunter Skinner
Adam Gaudette
Mikhail Abramov
1st in 2023 from NYR (whichever is later of their own and DAL that they own)
4th in 2024 from NYR (becomes a 3rd if NYR make the playoffs, so will most likely be the 3rd)
1st in 2023 from TOR
3rd in 2023 from TOR
2nd in 2024 from TOR

Not a bad return for a solid player. Dean seems like a very solid prospect. I’d rather have him than a late 2nd or 3rd+.

And we clearly already have Barbie’s replacement already in kap. Solid move.

Blais at $1m is a solid signing.

Blues get Jakub Vrana + DET picking up 50% of his salary

Red Wings get a 7th round pick and AHL player Dylan McGlaughlin

Interesting pickup. Former 1st round pick. A couple mid 20 goal seasons. 27 and signed through next year. Not sure why he hasn’t played as much lately. Injury prone?

At $2.65m seems like a great trade. Low risk (even if he’s more third line production the salary works. If he’s a terrible fit, he’s gone after next year.
