Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
Was hoping for Stephenson for a 2C but just signed for 7/6.25 AAV with Seattle
These deals esp the term are crazy
I don’t even want to know what a Bush extension would look like. I’m cool with a trade also, as we should get a haul with what I’m seeing going around.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
buch signs an extension; great! 8 mil AAV; ugh...I love buch but he's just not worth 8 AAV (6 years). plus a full NMC the first 4 years (Army's first one; edit - they were wrong; looks like just a standard NTC)
picked up faska from DAL, and Joseph and a 3rd round pick from OTT in exchange for nothing...so that is good. Faska should slide into Hayes spot for the 3rd C and Joseph should be pretty dang good in a 3rd or 4th wing role

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
also the roster is set and we still don't have a 2C...so guess we're going to roll with buch or schenn there and lose damn near every face off
Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, Saad, Neighbours, Schenn, Texier, Joseph, Torop, Faksa, Kapanen, and Bolduc
Joseph and Faska are huge and along with Torop...that bottom 6 is going to have some size and some skill, and be hard to play against

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
and looks like we have approx 7 mil left under the cap once you include Bolduc and Kessel on the roster (and Sunny on LTIR)
not that we need to spend to the cap; this team is a year or 2 away from the youngsters really being ready/make a real run at the playoffs...so no need to spend money just to do so. now if there's a trade to be made to bring in a REAL 2c? well I'd be all for using the cap space.
NSH obv REALLY going for it, and of course Avs and DAL will be great....so prob can't count on anything better than 4th in the division even if we do pick up a 2C, BUT....would make it more interesting for sure (edit - not to mention the Jets)

and we just picked up Mathieu Joseph's younger brother, LHD Pierre-Olivier
I like it; 1 year 950K; first round pick who is a year younger than Peru

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
Dang, we were busy on day 2!
I love buchy, but oof $8m is a lot. He’s probably worth it (or close enough) for at least half the contract, hopefully 4 years. You just never know when a guy will start slowing down.
I don’t know much about the new guys. Essentially we traded Hayes and a 2nd for these two and a third so that’s a little better asset management… I guess? Seem like bottom 6 guys. Faksa is pretty big… then again, so was Hayes. /shrug/ I hope they’re good.
Edit: Maybe they think they can flip faksa at the deadline for a pick since he’s big, and by then his salary cap hit won’t be too much.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2024-25 Season
Just looked over that schedule. 1 comment and 1 question:
1. They only play 2 road games in the entire month of February. Wow.
2. Why do they have a 6-game road trip in March? Is there a circus in town or something?

As dumb as "Utah Hockey Club" currently looks on the schedule, apparently they are planning to go with the Utah Yetis. Yeti? Yeties? Whatever the plural of yeti is.
Setting aside that it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, that feels like a corny mascot for a NHL team. AHL, sure. I don't know that I have a better suggestion at this point but it isn't Yeti.
