Starting to think they match broberg and are letting Holloway walk, as a middle 6 guy is a lot easier to find than a good young D-man

I’d also liked to have made that trade had we not already had these offer sheets out there

And agreed, I’d have taken a flier on Podkolzin, though I do like Holloway a bit better.

Would have been a nice, “why not both” situation, if not for the logjam up front.

Edit: The only potential saving grace is they did get a rh d man in the cece deal. Maaaaaybe him and Podkolzin are their plan to replace broberg and Holloway since they will need all the monies for drai and Bouchard next year, and not a lot of contracts would be coming off the books.

Yeah, I like Holloway as a pickup. Him and a 5th for two thirds (taking into account the trade we made to recoup our second for the broberg offer, if I’m remembering the details correctly) is a solid upside move on its own.

Still no word from edm. I’m super hoping they think the dman pickup and maybe resigning Barrie could replace broberg and they let both offer sheets go. It would leave them more money next year for drai and Bouchard, and honestly, there might be zero dropoff this year, when they are going for another cup run. In fact, the new dman has some sneaky good advanced stats, and is a natural rd. He might be better than broberg playing his off side, at least this year.

yep, even if we ge neither, I love the move by Army. Not to mention it gives me something to do in a time where normally we wouldn't be talking about the NHL in august...plus the cards have sucked ass, so gives us entertainment. then of course love [expletive] with the oilers if they do match, as it will screw up their cap.

but I doubt army will do anything extra if they match/we don't get them...and I agree with that. no sense spending just to spend.

and hell, we could make an offer to someone like a Draisaitl next year with the cap space we'll have...imagine 3 Centers of Draisaitl, Thomas and Dvorsky lol

can't find anyone reputable to confirm they were on it earlier, but I don't see why they wouldn't have been? but they are def not on it right now when I looked.

the new guys Emberson and Podkolzin are on it, so it's def updated?
