I don't think 89 is too few.The Third Man wrote:From what I've heard before, isn't it actually potentially bad to throw a pitcher too few pitches if he's throwing with ease? Could make him tighten up in the next start, or something along those lines.
May as well let him go the distance. He's earned it.
If someone gets on, then what...you pull him? That's another 5-10 pitches for no real reason...this game's over. Maybe it takes him 10-15 to get through the ninth even if no one gets on. Why bother? We don't need to save the bullpen, and there's nothing to really gain by having him pitch the ninth.
That said, I'll bet he does pitch it...TLR is big into rewarding people who've earned it...and Reyes has most certainly done that.

I haven't heard that too few pitches thing before. RC might be a good one to answer this. The Third Man wrote:From what I've heard before, isn't it actually potentially bad to throw a pitcher too few pitches if he's throwing with ease? I agree that he deserves the 9th. The Looper idea had good merit, but Reyes really deserves a chance at a CG in the wolrd series.

Duncan was the DH...Taguchi was already in LF.raddy wrote:Always get in that defense when you are ahead--even be a lotEastonBlues22 wrote:I like switching out Duncan for Wilson here....lets see if Wilson can do something to get himself started in a low pressure situation against a lefty.
You dont need runs you need outs.
And....Monroe goes yard and Reyes leaves on a low note. Blah. Great start, I disagree with leaving him in for the ninth (glad I said so before the dinger).
