last minute league: anyone interested in an auction keeper?
after the GRB/NSBB auction last night I'm officially addicted to the auction system. I'm wanting to get another auction league up for myself but would like it to be a keeper league with the budget carrying through throughout the season.
ESPN doesn't seem to allow leagues to keep the budgets going after the drafts have finished. Here's my basic idea: set up an auction keeper league at ESPN, have the draft and record all the player's prices onto rosters kept on a yahoo groups page (or message board or whatever), then run the league using the ESPN site with the caveat that we're all required to be under our allotted budgets and must stay under our budgets when making transactions/trades by keeping the yahoo groups page up to date after any trades or free agent pick ups.
If teams were to agree to a trade that puts either team over budget the trade would not be allowed.
I'm not sure what to do yet with players who are drafted at a certain price, then dropped. It seems like the drafting team should take some penalty for the price they originally bid and the rest of the league shouldn't have to pay the same price to pick them up just because the original team overbid for them. Maybe the original team takes a penalty of 1/2 the price and the player becomes available for 1/2 the price? We can work that out.
Keep 10 players from year to year. I'm undecided on whether or not to have time limits on how long you can keep players.
That's the basic idea. We can work all the little stuff out.
Anyone interested? Looking for a 10 team league, so I'd need 9 more managers.

here's what I put in for settings:
roster - C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, 1B/3B (CI), 2B/SS (MI), Util, Util and 9 Pitcher spots. 4 bench spots.
cats - AVG, OPS, R, HR, RBI, SB x W, K, SV, Holds, ERA, WHIP
thought I'd mix it up a bit with the OF positions broken down to specifics and adding Holds.

If you people join, you won't be sorry. It's worth creating an ESPN account for.

the winner of the league may receive a free well child check up for their kid if they're willing to drive to Alabama for the visit.

Re: last minute league: anyone interested in an auction keeper?
anyone know when ESPN drafts have to be done in order to play the 1st week?
yahoo has to have drafts done by the 29th (Sunday) in order to have scoring during the 1st week of the regular season.
I think I'm going to tentatively say Sunday has the be the day we draft so we don't miss the beginning of the season.
If we don't get any more interest here today I may recruit from the classifieds at fantasybaseballcafe tomorrow to get the league filled up by Sunday.
