Bracket results/discussion
So the scores have been posted at http://challonge.com/GRB_cover_tourney_20. I'll hold off on starting the Sweet 16 matches until tomorrow morning.
What were your favorite songs/versions? Any upsets?

Re: Round 1 results
1) Favorite song was I Feel It Coming by Skinny Living
2) Best thing I didn't know before was Fripp’s guitar tracks on Heroes (thx luke)
3) Biggest surprise is that I voted for both of wart's entries. I never realized we had so much in common.

Now that we've knocked half of them out, I thought maybe I could pick a winner. I mean my personal bias is towards Hey Jude, but I definitely have underestimated the Nirvana juggernaut. I feel like their is a good chance Nirvana wins, but I think it's possible one of the odd balls win as well. I could even see Les Claypools group winning.

We all have a lot more in common than we know. I am really a nice guy. Honest.Radbird wrote:1) Favorite song was I Feel It Coming by Skinny Living

Both my entries lost. I was not surprised, but not bummed either the competition was tough.

Put on some headphones and listen to Peter Tosh tear up Johnny B Good. Which, by the way, is named after the late great St Louis piano player Johnny Johnson.

Re: Round 1 results
Sweet 16 results are in, Elite 8 bracket posted.
Upsets? I was surprised a couple songs won in the last round, and I was equally surprised at a couple that ended in ties and had to be extended.
Looking forward to the Elite 8! I'll only post 2 matches at a time from here on out, and I've extended the voting to 3 days per match.
Johnny B Goode vs Come Together is an especially difficult match. And I suspect this round is where Roy Clark goes down, since he's up against Chris Cornell's fantastic cover of Nothing Compares 2 U.

I'm salty that an inferior version of "To Love Somebody" is still alive while mine got crushed in the first round last tourney (to the eventual champion, but still).

I looked at the first bracket, but must have missed that. I wouldn't have picked mine if I did. I may have chosen something else off of Nina Simone's To Love Somebody album (the title track being far superior to your dirty bus hippies' lazy stroll), however. Excellent album.cardsfansince82 wrote:I'm salty that an inferior version of "To Love Somebody" is still alive while mine got crushed in the first round last tourney (to the eventual champion, but still).

The championship match is posted! Hey Jude versus Ghost of Tom Joad. I'll admit I didn't expect that Rage cover to advance as far as it has.
Can lipp repeat as champion?! Who here pledges to snipe the poll at the 11th hour to prevent this?
