You're talking about a president who challenged opponents to duels. In fact, outside of FDR and Lincoln, I don't think any other president did more to change the direction the country was going... not all was positive, but he was darned effective.

Favorite character: Jackson, (with Teddy a close second)
Most Effective: FDR
Most Influential (Modern): Reagan
Most Influential (Founding Father): Jefferson
Most Underrated: Jackson (with a nod to LBJ)
Most Overrated: Kennedy
Worst Single-Term President: Andrew Johnson
Worst Two-Term President: James Monroe

Best President: Lincoln
Those are all good choices.

I'd rate Theodore Roosevelt before Jackson as a character, simply because I think Jackson did so many loathsome things.

Most Effective: Polk--Again, not a personal favorite, but he accomplished his entire political agenda in one term.
Most Influential (Modern): Believe it or not, Nixon. I think he did so much to shape the poisonous aspects of our modern political culture (especially campaigning), and his concept of the imperial presidency is back in play with the current administration--Cheney and Rumsfeld were his proteges.

Most Influential (Founding Father): Jefferson's a good answer, although I'd say Washington. If you included work on the Constitution, I'd say Madison.
Most Underrated: Polk
Most Overrated: Wilson
Worst Single-Term President: James Buchanan, followed by Andrew Johnson, Warren G. Harding, and Franklin Pierce.
For personal reasons, I'd name Rutherford B. Hayes.

Worst Two-Term President: Ulysses S. Grant (although he's a severely underrated general).

Not sure who'd I'd mention as best president. Again, for personal reasons, probably LBJ.

Lincoln
Washington

Truman (whom I would nominated for most underrated)

Apologies to: LBJ, Jefferson, Monroe
No apologies to: A. Johnson, Nixon, Buchanan
