I think those whose invest or want to invest here should do something similar to a fantasy league as far as stocks.
Pick to 3-5 stocks with 10K avail. and after 90/120 days whomever has the greatest ROI is declared the winner.
Maybe I'm the only one geeky enough to do want to do this?

That's essentially what Motley Fool CAPS is:UK wrote:I think those whose invest or want to invest here should do something similar to a fantasy league as far as stocks.

You declare up or down for a given time frame. You score points based on the difference between that stock's price and the S&P 500. So, let's say you pick ABC to go down over 3 months, and it goes down 10%. If the SP500 goes down 5% over that same time, then you earn 5 points. But if the sp500 goes down 15%, then you lose 5 points.

Good choices. Essentials such as those will always be in demand regardless of the state of the economy.Popeye_Card wrote:Based on my experiences last weekend, I rate both hookers and blow as "strong buy" candidates.stldogget05 wrote:So say you are a youngster with some spare change to invest. What do you do? Jump in because the stock market is low? Stay out, it's going to get worse. Look for some other investments? Help me out here folks.

Boy, it's probably a good idea that Bush didn't get his way with privatizing Social Security, eh?

That's true, but the privatized money would be vanishing right now. I'd have to start collecting berries, tilling fields and milking cows to provide for my freaking grandparents.

You win, down 504.48Popeye_Card wrote:I would love to do that had I not spent all of my life savings on hookers and blow last weekend.
I'll place the over/under on the NYSE fall today at 500 points. I'm leaning towards the over.
EDIT: Right now, it's down 280.

That's pretty good (in Popeye's guessing, not that amount that it was down)TimeForGuinness wrote:You win, down 504.48Popeye_Card wrote:I would love to do that had I not spent all of my life savings on hookers and blow last weekend.

Yeah, and that was before I even had a cup of coffee this morning. I'm going to quit my job and become a financial predictor guy on CNBC or something.BW23 wrote:That's pretty good (in Popeye's guessing, not that amount that it was down)TimeForGuinness wrote:You win, down 504.48Popeye_Card wrote:I would love to do that had I not spent all of my life savings on hookers and blow last weekend.
