Re: movies
A long time ago I was teaching this adult English language class and we got into an interesting conversation and I mentioned Cliff Curtis, who played a Maori in Whale Rider, a Mexican in Training Day, and an Iraqi in Three Kings. Checked back in on him after playing a 10 foot Pandoran in Avatar 2. He's added Judean, Caveman, and Colombian, at least. A lot more Latinos, too. I hope those are sprinkled throughout Central and South America.
I bet this is a thing on the internet now. Maybe I'll do some clicking about.

Re: movies
I made the mistake of watching "X" last night. Oh wow. Can I get all that time back, plus some more as a penalty for being such a bad movie?
The movie even refers to itself as a "f-ed up horror movie". Actual quote.
The acting is bad. I'm going to hope that was intentional, but if it was, why?
And nobody is asking for an old people sex scene. Not one person.

Man, I liked X. Pearl was even better. Mia Goth is great and there's a third coming out set in the 80's coming up.mikechamp wrote: ↑January 18 23, 1:15 pmI made the mistake of watching "X" last night. Oh wow. Can I get all that time back, plus some more as a penalty for being such a bad movie?

I think the acting choices were kind of an homage to old 70's slasher flicks.

Re: movies
I actually enjoy Gerard Butler's thin on plot heavy on blowing crap up movies when the mood feels right. This one fits that category.

Speaking of of Gerry B and his dumb, awesome movies, I should watch Den of Thieves again.

I’m getting old. Glass Onion is sharp and fast and has Angela Lansbury and Yo Yo Ma. And I like it but I can’t love it, because the way the reveals are deconstructed and juxtaposed throughout the movie throw me. I can’t quite make peace with it. I’m too rigid.

Re: movies
I decided to watch M3GAN on Peacock despite some friends with movie tastes I respect not really liking it. I gotta say it ended up exceeding my expectations by quite a bit. I don't think it's a consistently great movie, but it has some great moments. I think the key to enjoying M3GAN is treating it like a dark comedy first with some horror/sci fi elements. It isn't scary or tense, but there are some fantastic laugh out loud moments. 8/10
