One of my vintage stereo repairs has a working cassette player. I found this album on cassette for $6. I had forgotten how good this particular song was.

Clearly Craig Finn was watching a Cardinals game featuring a half-empty Busch Stadium in the later innings when the Woo!s started up, and at that point he knew just what this song needed.

When I was young, probably 14 roughly I got this House of Pain CD - Same as it Ever Was. Me and my rural wanna be gang banger rapper friends practically wore it out. We didn't realize at the time that we were listening to the edited version of it. Then a couple years later my buddy got the unedited version for Christmas. It was a real eye opener for us kids. lol Anyway, I broke it out the other day and listened to it. Surprisingly I still knew all the lyrics and I still like it. It's like jazz infused rap.

I learned about an interesting rumor about the NIN album The Downward Spiral that I hadn't heard before. Supposedly Reznor and Tori Amos dated in the early 90s, and they did collaborate on some songs (Reznor sang backup on one of hers). The rumor is that The Downward Spiral was written kind of as a companion album to Amos' album Little Earthquakes. Amos' album is about being in an abusive relationship from the perspective of the victim, and the rumor is the NIN album is the same relationship from the perspective of the abuser. I was also reminded that Reznor recorded The Downward Spiral in the house where the Manson family committed the Tate murders in 1969. What a guy, Trent Reznor.

Van Morrison has released an album which is apparently down there with the worst stuff he's ever done. He's gone a bit COVID-crazy, sounds like.

It may just be me but 90's grunge music has not aged well.

I no longer enjoy most of it outside of Soundgarden.

Also, the new Chvrches song is solid but I want to hear the whole album
[SHOW]

Hard to understate how much of a difference listening to these songs on a proper stereo makes.
