Got to admit Sturgilll Simpson's latest is a mild disappointment. I am fine with him morphing his style. But I can't hear his voice in this album, it is run thru a weird synthesizer.
Bah.
Bah.

I love my kids... but if I was childless, there's absolutely no doubt I'd be spending 4 figures on concert tickets this year.

it's weird, primus is my favorite band...and i know how much they were influenced by rush, and i like rush casually and respect their musicianship tremendously but i'm not sure i'd call myself a big rush fan etc. i read an article that says primus is doing the rush set, will take a break then do a primus set. i may try and see the denver show. i've only seen primus one time, in KC and i was a little underwhelmed. some extenuating circumstances and i feel like the band may have been a bit burned out at that stage so it just didn't click as well as i had hoped.

First time I saw Primus was opening for Rush actually...1994 in Peoria on the Counterparts tour. Les was talking about how big of an influence Rush had on him. I’ll never forget him saying in that nasally voice, “First concert I ever went to was Rush. Hemispheres tour, God damn it.”

i read some interview (or may have been in a primus biography book) where he (les) said he drank 3 lowenbraus in the parking lot before his first rush concert, puked it up then went inside and saw the show etc.Smith Corks One wrote: ↑February 26 20, 4:32 amFirst time I saw Primus was opening for Rush actually...1994 in Peoria on the Counterparts tour. here's a rolling stone Q&A with les with some backstory on decision to cover the Rush album

I definitely get that, but I really like it for some reason.
