My wife received her doctorate the year after Obama was elected. Starting sale dies in my wife's field dropped 30k directly because of the changes that Obama proposed. In just 3 years that's almost 100k in lost wages that will never be made up. Couple that with changes in what you are allowed to duduct on student loan interest and my wife brings home less then she would have with a job out of undergrad.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:If you don't mind sharing, how so?Diddy wrote:Obamacare has had a very direct negative effect in my families life.

My twin Nephews have had a series of open heart surgeries all paid for by the State of Arizona, and neither of their parents are American citizens, they are resident aliens. Neither my brother-in law nor my sister-in-law have steady jobs either, and the bills have all been paid, including flying them to California for a specialist to perform 2 of the surgeries, by the tax payers of the State of Arizona.

People with kids are much more likely to get Medicaid providing they don't work, or don't make much money. It's really the working poor, middle class and those without kids that get completely hosed by our health care system.
BTW just for reference, my GF's medical bills with her "good insurance" through work are nearly double what we paid for our house. Just food for thought. That's our cost btw, not the part the insurance picked up. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to pay that and even more thankful we can afford to but it's still insane.

What the [expletive] does that mean [expletive]? I never said deny anyone medical care. We're not well off by any means. I didn't have ins for many years myself and was never denied medical care.IMADreamer wrote:ah sniff sniff. meanwhile on the poor side of town someone just died.

It means your beef with Obamacare is your wife will make less money. AKA greed. Which is my whole argument why the system is the way it is and we don't have UHC. GREED. Is your wife only being a doctor for money? If so that's [expletive] up.Diddy wrote:What the [expletive] does that mean [expletive]? I never said deny anyone medical care. Did you ever have cancer or need a major surgery? If you did and still got the care then I'll assume you are extremely poor right now if you haven't already filed for bankruptcy. That's the other side of the coin. 62% of bankruptcy is due to medical bills. Of course the right just says those people are lazy no working liberals.

or how about he invest it in his farm which he does which employees people and provides them with health insurance? or how about instead of the govt giving out subsidies to farms, big oil, big pharma, and everyone else under the sun we just do UHC?Diddy wrote:How bout taking that one million you said your dad gets on farm payments and giving it to pay medical bills for the poor?IMADreamer wrote:ah sniff sniff. meanwhile on the poor side of town someone just died.
I'm not for subsidies either although if they are out there and you can get them you better. Farmers can take care of them selves. Most won't be able to but it will be like the 1980s when half of all farms went under and they got gobbled up by bigger farms. Same thing will happen. Of course your food prices will go up in the process. I'll bet you'd hate that. Of course if food prices go up that means even less people will be able to afford health care so we better have UHC at that point.
