Have to brag on my oldest daughter. She had her first ever basketball game today after only having two practices. They were playing a traveling team that is a year older. She stopped their best player and scored half her teams points.

They came and asked her after the game if she’d be interested in joining their traveling team. We’ve already decided we’re not going to start traveling ball for a few more years, she was asked about joining a volleyball team also.

I missed the second game to take our oldest son to his game but they said she played better that game. Can’t wait till she starts understanding the game better

She’s just 7. She was so nervous last night she couldn’t sleep last night so it was great to see her get out there and shake off the nerves and excell. If we can just keep her away from the boys we might be onto something!

How about grand kids? Shouldn’t brag, but the kid is really good. Plays for a local team and a traveling tournament team. Plays catcher and outfield. He will be 14 in August.

Yeah, thanks, we will see how far he goes. As stated above he plays for his local youth association team and then a traveling team from another town nearby. The out of town team has an indoor facility where they can practice hitting and teach all kinds of fundamentals all year round which is nice in the winter. They have arm strengthening too which helps as a catcher, especially. Last year the kids went to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and this summer they plan a trip to Omaha, Nebraska. They play a lot of local teams and tournaments but the coaches take them on one far away trip each summer. Also, last year he went to a week-long baseball camp in Florida. The place in Pigeon Forge is called the Ripken Experience and by Cal Ripken who they get to meet there.

That sounds awesome...good for them. Have you indoctrinated him into being a Cardinals fan?
