I know a guy on the inside. Used to be a hotshot banker.

I used that for someone that was years behind. Pretty cool that it was free and went all the way back to 2014. These clients were not simple returns either, and yet free. It was a pain kinda to get around, but again, the free.

I like that it remembers my info; and I have had the same employer for the last 13 years; so that makes it simple. I just have to update here and there and get it done pretty quickly.

I use them too; my side gig is as an independent contractor, as is my wife's, and they're the only one I've found that lets you include 1099 income in their free version. H&R Block and Turbo Tax don't.

I just throw the letters away and ignore it all. I haven't had to do any taxes in years with this method.

When I worked in tax Inuit Lacerte was easily and above by far better than the free programs or even "home" programs available like Turbotax. If you were writing a report, Microsoft Word is like Lacerte, and Turbotax would be like MS Word where Clippy constantly interupts you every single time you type a word. Unfortunately it's not available to the average joe for w/e reason.
