On the plus side of getting old is I have mellowed a lot, and am more at peace with my place in life.
On the down side, my job calls for a good memory, and that seems to be slipping, much more than I think it should for a 57 year old man.

I got out of software development and into customer support because of this. I used to be able to keep the whole system in my head, the changes made and why so it was fairly easy to consider potential changes or bugs and have a feel for impacts, etc.Spider John wrote:On the plus side of getting old is I have mellowed a lot, and am more at peace with my place in life.

When it got to the place where I was looking at code I'd written a month ago and not remembering why or that I even did, I knew it was time for an exit strategy.
Nobody was noticing but I sure was. Leave too early rather than too late.

I'm driving from Kansas City to Lincoln, Nebraska for Christmas after I get off of work tonight. By the time I pick up my wife and our dogs, we'll probably be getting on the road around 11:00 p.m. It's about a three and a half hour drive. I'm still not sure I can make it without coffee.
