The possibly apocryphal story I'm familiar with is that he sold his act to his brother who performed as Gallagher 2.
I remember as a kid watching Gallagher on Comedy Central. He was drawing on a whiteboard and wrote the word "look" then he said 'shouldn't it be like this?' and drew an eyeball in each 'o'. I lost a little piece of my soul that day, learning just how terrible the world was. People can be paid to be funny and do some [expletive] like that? People didn't storm out or shout '[expletive] you' or anything. They just let him do it. That's when I knew there was no God.
Not an easy pivot from that to well wishes. But I do wish peace for those mourning the loss.
