Before Smashing pumpkins and Banging cantaloupes; there was hammering watermelons. Those were the days.

Was there an imitation Gallagher at one point?

The possibly apocryphal story I'm familiar with is that he sold his act to his brother who performed as Gallagher 2.

I remember as a kid watching Gallagher on Comedy Central. He was drawing on a whiteboard and wrote the word "look" then he said 'shouldn't it be like this?' and drew an eyeball in each 'o'. I lost a little piece of my soul that day, learning just how terrible the world was. People can be paid to be funny and do some [expletive] like that? People didn't storm out or shout '[expletive] you' or anything. They just let him do it. That's when I knew there was no God.

Not an easy pivot from that to well wishes. But I do wish peace for those mourning the loss.

So, is that headline about Gallagher himself, or about one of many Gallagher performances?

Didn't know anything about all that.

Plus I didn't know he didn't die after the 80s ended.
