I don’t know how anyone could argue that Globalization didn’t kill Vanilla Ice. B2B killed A1A: FACT.

"Making your point" (I know you used /s) by using a meme from Twitter that we would never see because we're not on social media is both ironic and funny. The globalization part is dumb, but hard to argue that Tinder, pornhub, and Tik Tok are healthy good things for developing minds.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑January 13 23, 11:13 amSome of y’all are starting to sound like the freaks who post [expletive] like this:

It’s a joke. Who isn’t on social media? Who is we? Confused by that comment. People post tweets here daily.TGantz wrote: ↑January 13 23, 1:10 pm"Making your point" (I know you used /s) by using a meme from Twitter that we would never see because we're not on social media is both ironic and funny. I know it was a joke. That's why I put "making your point" in quotes. You had posted it after a few people mentioned not being on social media and you said "some of y'all". No biggie bro.Big Amoco Sign wrote: ↑January 13 23, 1:37 pmIt’s a joke. Who isn’t on social media? Who is we? Confused by that comment. The people who post those things typically hated integration in schools and probably eat all meat and processed food diets. And think Elon is cool.
“Developing minds” comment is debatable. People are biased to hate exploring sexuality because this country suppressed it so much. The past is always worse, typically, IMO.
Also why is Tinder bad? Lol. No woman misses the days of being harassed and assaulted by men in bars. I can see porn addiction being bad but porn? No.
It's all about the construction. An idea in itself is just an idea. Ideas are starting points. You use that to build more and more ideas on top of it until it becomes something more than what it was until it's explored its space. You'd be doing a disservice to the idea and every member of the community if you didn't perform the hell out of that idea. Tiktok is creativity bankruptcy. If a SNL sketch sucks then its on the writers and performers for not getting the most out of it.ghostrunner wrote: ↑January 13 23, 11:32 amI think it's actually a pretty good length for distilling the essence of ideas that SNL will often drag on for 6 minutesAdmiralKird wrote: ↑January 13 23, 6:45 amI wish I could ban youtube shorts in my subscription feed. All of them. Tik Tok exists in this weird realm of permanent guaranteed crap quality for everything. You can get a decent amount of enjoyment out of a short idea in a 5 second gif. You can get a decent amount of info out of a 10 minute youtube video. You can't get crap out of a 30 second video. It's both too long for a short idea and too short for a long idea. It's No Man's Land. All of it is trash. All of it. Imagine going to the movie theater and waiting 20 minutes to see a 6 minute clip or 6 hour movie. There are just certain lengths things are not meant to be.
What shocks me is how Vines flew too close to the sun and exploded into a puff of nothing, and then Tiktok comes along, does the same thing, and is wildly successful.
We’ll have to disagree. I think you’re overthinking humor a bit. You laugh or you don’t, you’re pleasantly surprised and engaged or you aren’t. The best TikToks are very bit as creative and funny as SNL is or has ever been. Less budget, less experienced acting talent, but the ideas are every bit as good and funny, and a minute is plenty. Mitch Hedberg could tell 20-25 unrelated jokes in ten minutes.AdmiralKird wrote: ↑January 13 23, 6:32 pmIt's all about the construction. An idea in itself is just an idea. Ideas are starting points. Agree. I’d add when I first got on grb, I considered it to be the biggest thing I did on the internet for entertainment that was a waste of time.Arthur Dent wrote: ↑January 13 23, 1:48 pmForgetting speculation about “kids these days” and just introspecting about myself, there’s no question that the internet has damaged my attention span and time use. That the internet has since become dominated by a handful of companies who optimize their products for addiction has surely made the problem worse.
