Slight Forum Rearrangement
I made a couple changes to the forums, splitting out each category into it's own sub-forum and retiring a couple of the less active forums. Here's what changed:
New Sub Categories:
Baseball, Social, Politics, and Site Admin stuff are all their own forums now. This does a few things:
1.) It allows you to view active posts by topic, so now you can see all baseball related forums by clicking the link in the gray heading bar:
2.) In our default theme, you can collapse headers to only show 3-4 forums total:
3.) It allows mods to ban users per forum. So if someone can't play nice in politics but is great in baseball talk, we can ban them from politics while still giving access to baseball discussion.
New Forums:
Baseball Talk is now Baseball News.
Articles, Blogs, Etc. is new forum focused on in-depth baseball talk and analytical discussion.
GDTs and news snippets about what is happening will go in Baseball News, while our own forum posters, bloggers, or articles from other sites will go into Articles, Blogs, Etc.
For example, if Dexter Fowler breaks his ankle and you want to post about it on GRB it'd go into Baseball News. If Fangraphs wrote an article on Fowler's aging curve against his peers, you would post that in Articles, Blogs, Etc.
The goal is to draw more attention to original content and analytical content by giving it its own sub forum., though our policy of only allowing snipped from articles linked elsewhere is still in place.
We've also added a Super Fun Happy Forum. I'm sure everyone will know what to do with that.
Finally there is now a Hall of Fame Threads forum, this is going to be for offseason activities to suggest and vote on Hall Of Fame worthy threads from GRB's past.
Retired Forums
Minor Leagues and Fantasy Sports have been retired. The last 2 years worth of minor leagues posts have been moved to Baseball Talk and tagged as Minor Leagues. You can view them here.
The forums now reside inside Archives.
Hidden Forums
Politics and the Super Happy Fun Forum require you to be registered and logged in to view. Bots also cannot see them. Politics has been removed from the search index as well.
New Feature: Tags
There is now a tagging feature that allows you to add tags to a post. The tags show up next to the post topic and you can click on tags to see a list of every post with that particular tag. I want to experiment with tagging and see if it's something we can make use of in a fun way on the forum.
If you have any feedback feel free to post here, or to the site support/suggestions thread.
