Re: Random musings
I took my Dad to a funeral today. He doesn't really go anywhere any more besides the farm and the doctor so he hasn't seen a lot of people for a few years. We sit down at the funeral and suddenly there is a line to see my Dad. It was nuts. It was like a scene from the Godfather. Even the son of the deceased lined up. It almost didn't feel right because it was like we were taking away from the deceased but it's not like my Dad asked for it, he was just going to pay his respects to a friend.
It was quite the experience and my Dad said "I hate to say it but that's the first time I've been to a funeral and enjoyed it. It was nice seeing everyone." lol

Re: Random musings
Had another one of these yesterday sans the low bg. Feels like I got hit in the head with a dump truck still today. But at least I can think and be functional.BottenFieldofDreams wrote: ↑September 12 19, 2:52 pmAWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:Sorry you've got to deal with these; they're certainly no fun.BottenFieldofDreams wrote:You tell people you had a migraine and they tell you they get those too and they have to sit in a dark room and relax. It's the best thing for it. [expletive] off with your dark room and relaxing. There are green metallic ribbons shimmering through my field of vision. My arm, then my mouth, then sometimes my balls feel numb and tingly like I hit my funny bone. My balls! I had to go the ER because the pain didn't break for 18 hours regardless of all the drugs, and I couldn't hold any food or liquid down. Thanks for the tip though. A cool washcloth? Dark room? The Percocet I barfed up did nothing. I'll try that.
If this was the kind of thing a dark room and pan flute music could fix, I wouldn't have missed two days of work, jackass.
This may read victimy. I blame postdrome depression. I've mostly grown out of migraines, at least the hospital ones. Such a painful waste of a few days. Next time you hit your funny bone see if you can get the sensation to spread to your abdomen and balls. Enter my world.
Mine start with seeing spots, then a headache that devolves into a debilitating migraine. Imitrex (sp?) helps a little and if you couple that with a heavy dose of benadryl and zophran (sp?) to prevent the puking, I've gotten to where I can sleep for about 8 hours and through the worst of it but it's still miserable.
On top of all that, idk if it's the imitrex or the stress on my body, but my BS drops considerably throughout this time. So, it's almost impossible to keep it high enough. The last one I had was an absolute doozy....
The first phase (spots, medicine, migraine sets in) had come and gone. But, I couldn't get my blood sugar above 100. I have a big ass jug of Gatorade Powder in order to make some concentrated sugar drinks if needed. But, after 4 scoops which is probably like 100g of sugar and a bunch of water, I couldn't drink anymore. My blood sugar was sitting around 60 and .... I just couldn't function. Called my wife, couldn't remember her name. Couldn't figure out the glucagon thing and was getting ready to call 911 when my wife called back and said a neighbor was coming over.
I'd just puked despite the zophran and was just in a miserable place; head was pounding, confused, etc. Was heating up water on the stove to make simple syrup but really struggling and figuring out how to even do that. This guy Tejuan comes over and I could tell he was not expecting what he walked into. I couldn't remember his name despite hanging out with him like 20 times a year. He had a big smile on his face when I opened the door and it instantly turned into a look of dread when he saw me. He came in and asked what he needed to do so I handed him the glucagon and pointed to it and went back to making the simple syrup which worked.
He figured out the glucagon which is little more than injecting a syringe prefilled with water into a vial prefilled with powder, shaking to combine, then drawing it back out with the syringe and injecting into the body. Thank goodness for that because as soon as I drank the simple syrup I instantly yacked.
My wife got home from work and hooked me up to an iv and I was able to pass out for the next few hours. Holy [expletive] was that miserable.
Low bg mental dullness plus migraine incapacitaty and an acute need for serious help... Man I'm glad I've never faced that. What a nightmare.
The worse part was puking. I feel like when you have a stomach virus or the flu or whatever, you digest food then puke up stomach acid. I was yacking up leftover turkey chunks. It was so tough to puke, I started sweating, blew a blood vessel in my eye. Gross.
I took a shower, brushed teeth, and went to bed at 3 pm. About 6 pm the low bg alarm went off and Mrs aw came in with some Gatorade. I don’t remember this. But woke up this am and tasted it and was like jfc. That’s pure sugar. She was like yeah. I wasn’t going to have a repeat of last time. Lol.

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay
I am bored.
Entertain me.

Do they still do those baseball camps where old rich dudes get to play ball for a weekend with even older former major leaguers? I'd like to spend my kids' inheritance to have a catch with Bernard Gilkey and take a few swings against Bob Tewksbury.

That sure is a fine line between king and pauper. Guess you can’t have your eggs and eat them too.CardsofSTL wrote: ↑February 21 25, 8:01 amA pauper.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑February 21 25, 7:59 amLmao, what does 3 chickens make me?CardsofSTL wrote: ↑February 21 25, 7:57 amIn the land of the bird flu, a man with six chickens is king.

Re: Random musings
Thinking further on this...since the average family is 3.15 people; if you only have three chickens and they are producing at an average capacity; you are likely only getting 2 eggs per day; sometimes 3. So 1 to 1.15 people are without eggs or even worse three people are sharing two eggs. Whereas in my domain the six chickens are producing more than 3 eggs per day even on a slow day and therefore we are all well and properly egged. So it holds true...in the land of the bird flu, a man with six chickens is king.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑February 21 25, 8:07 amThat sure is a fine line between king and pauper. It could be worse than a three chicken pauper though...one could be a no chicken peasant. That would be the worst.
