Re: Four days for the All Star Break?
I had no idea what "Magic Mike" was then I noticed the 2012 date on the thread and realized it was a movie. And "Ted" sucked so bad we couldn't sit through it. Thankfully, we were watching HBO so all we had to do was change the channel.

Yes four day AS breaks suck. Oh and Ted was hilarious.

Re: Four days for the All Star Break?
It's extra annoying this year because i would have beaten the 1st place team in fantasy 11-2, bumping me way up in the standings.
I sat Gausman last night and he would have netted me a win and a CG.
Now they have a chance to come back and narrow the lead.
Dumb.

Do you think the ESPYS are starting to influence the fourth day off or just a coincidence?

If so, that would just make me even more furious.KyCardinalFan wrote:Do you think the ESPYS are starting to influence the fourth day off or just a coincidence?
There should be baseball today. This is [expletive].

Holy [expletive]. I was thinking yesterday was day 4. [expletive]. Well, extra rest for pitchers. Silver lining or what the [expletive] ever.

I assume the players asked for the extra day in the last CBA.

I'm ready to put the bad taste from the ASG behind me.

That would be my guess, as in years past I don't remember a full slate of games on Thursday. This makes the break equal for everyone, it seems.dmarx114 wrote:I assume the players asked for the extra day in the last CBA.
Still, it seems like a long time to go without "real" baseball in the middle of the summer.

You're right, from a Dec., 2011 article:dmarx114 wrote:I assume the players asked for the extra day in the last CBA.
Seems like switching to a Wednesday game would be better for pitchers.(going into the game, maybe not going back into the season.)The All-Star break will be expanded to four days, rather than the traditional three-day gap. The five-year deal says starting in 2013 that MLB "shall have the right to elect to switch the All-Star game from Tuesday to Wednesday and the Home Run Derby from Monday to Tuesday." Sixty-nine of 82 All-Star games have been played on Tuesday, according to STATS LLC.
