Happy Day! I had a trust return rejected for I had no idea why, and called, was on hold for probably an hour, then was told I used wrong extension but was transferred, held for another half hour (the speaker option on a phone is the best), but finally got a pretty cool dude who knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it.

Thumbs up from a usually disgruntled tax preparer!
Lol!! This is what they now have us thinking is a good customer service experience!

Oh, I get it. But being on the phone for an hour and a half shouldn’t be a success story.

But at this stage of the game good customer service now equates to “did they actually help” (because it’s becoming more and more often they don’t), regardless of the time it takes in alot of cases which is really sad.

My experience is that you get 1oneout of four that actually is both competent and gives two iotas about what they are doing. I did have to wait so I know their little hold ditty very well. But at least I can leave it on and do other stuff.

The guy was great though, one of the best I've talked to.

Is the solution more investment in the IRS or less?

As a conservative, I hate to say it but it is more. I have known agents and spent time in a lot of their offices. Their computers were top of the line.

In 1987.

And I'm really not exaggerating a lot. Take a look at a transcript they give you. It's like in Greek.

I also don't know if there is political pressure or what, but it seems like the huge tax cheats never get looked at but farmer Joe might have to bring in his shoebox to verify fertilizer expenses. That's not a funding issue, so I really don't know the answer.
