This is blasphemous for many here, but I tried New Glarus Spotted Cow this weekend (bottle and draught) and came away unimpressed. I find it creamy and lacking body and bite, and I like my beers very crisp with good body. I don't see all the gushing over this brew.

I'll be honest, the Spotted Cow is one of my least favorite from the New Glarus brewery. It's just that it's the most readily-available of their beers so it's much easier to recommend.

But "least favorite from the New Glarus Brewery" is still a lot better, IMO, than about 75% of the readily-available beers you can find. I'd be curious to see how you'd feel about the Dancing Man Wheat.

My favorite Wisconsin brew is Lake Louie Milk Stout. That was a great recommendation, JL.

And my favorite New Glarus brew is Fat Squirrel. I like the malty smell and taste.

I can't wait until my next trip to 'Sconnie to buy some more. I'm not really a stout beer kind of guy but that one blew me away.

I also had a Fat Squirrel this weekend. It was definitely preferable to the Spotted Cow, but it didn't make me jump up and say "Youza" like, for example, Two Bros Northwind Imperial Stout or Three Floyd's Alpha King.

BTW, Mrs. Jack and I plan to host a "Beer Fest" that will feature a tasting of select local brews. My homebrewer friend Smokey will emcee. Here is my preliminary list of beers (suggestions welcome):

Two Bros Northwind Imperial Stout
Three Floyd's Alpha King
Three Floyd's Scottish Ale
Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold (for the lighter crowd)
