I'm bumping this thread to point out that babies don't make one [expletive] bit of sense. 'Zeus Jr was hell on wheels at sleeping for a solid year or more. Zeus Jr. Jr., however, is now 5 months old, and for the last 4 months has just gone to [expletive] sleep like a champ with minimal effort or fuss. She wakes up once during the night to eat, then goes quickly back to sleep on her own. We're not doing anything different. We didn't discover some magical technique. She just does it.

Note to new parents of GRB: Don't buy all the stupid sleep books or videos. They won't work. If your baby sucks at sleep, you're [expletive] until they develop more and figure it out. But you also may just get gifted an awesome baby that does it on their own. I hope you get one of those.

We found that our babies were secretly experimenting on us. My son just couldn't nap by himself--he would always wake up instantly as we began to set him down for a nap, and had to hold him to get him to sleep. My daughter would sleep like a log.

No two children are alike, and we just had to learn who these feral aliens were.

I'm with you lately. It sucks, especially when you know there's no rest for the wicked with the rest of your day's schedule.

I rarely sleep well. Old age is my issue. I'm kind of used to it, I know if I get 2 really bad nights sleep I'll sleep well the 3rd night. I used to fret, wondering how I could stay alert, but now it's just part of living. Sunday I tweaked something in my hip/butt, and I was in so much pain last night I couldn't stay asleep. Finally took 800mg of Ibuprofen which took the edge off enough to sleep reasonably well from about 3-7.

i try to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. i hate trying to get thru a day with heavy eyes. i love sleeping. i'll open my eyes to check the clock and be bummed when i see that i only have 2 more hours to sleep left.

I like to sleep to but I can't. I spent a fortune on mattresses until I finally realized it's not the mattress, it's my body. I can't sleep on my side because of a shoulder problem that only flares up at night, when I sleep on my back I wake up in the middle of the night with what feels like a knife in the middle of it. And then last night with a pulled muscle or something, and add in the need to pee in the middle of the night issue and it's over. Night is horrible.

I will say that when alarm goes off at 6am I am SOUND [expletive] asleep, every [expletive] morning. 3 AM I'm up, if the alarm went off at 3 no problem rolling out of bed. Between 5-6 sleeping like a baby.

I catchup on the weekend, I'll sleep until 7-8 and then sometimes take a nap. But through the week I'll get maybe 1 good night of sleep, and then 4 nights of torture.

We still have at least one, sometimes 2 or even 3 visitors every night. They know not to wake the sleeping bear, so they wake Daddy up to get in bed with us. One night last week, there were 2 already in the bed when the 3rd came walking in. I went in slept in the kids bed the rest of the night.

For my GRB peeps who are considering children, I highly recommend adopting a 4 year old. They're really amusing, and they don't scream their [expletive] heads off from 3 to 6am.
