I love podcasts. I get to listen to NPR and all sorts of other stuff on my time.
Anyone else love podcasts? Favorites?

My faves are Sound Opinions, Fresh Air, Scientific American and the New Yorker Cartoon video.

I've never listened to a podcast. Can you listen to them on any mp3 player, or does it have to be an Ipod?

I'm a big fan of padcasts too. In fact, I've been mulling around the idea of doing my own. I really have no recording, broadcasting, or journalism experience... but what the hell, you know. My idea is to present a sports show in the NPR format. Sports radio sucks so bad, it's all about who can shout louder and you rarely get in-depth stories about players or teams. I'd love to pick out some really interesting stories (everything from highschool on up) and give them the respect they deserve. I'd also play around with the mic and record a bunch of cool sounds to weave into the stories. Kind of like how NPR always has plates clattering in the background for stories that involve food or what not, I'd have the sound of a ball popping in a catcher's glove, or the sounds of highschool kids smashing into each other in a football scrimmage.

...really, it's all an excuse to for me to record those cool sounds. But I honestly think there's a untapped market for "NPR-style" sports journalism.

I love podcasts, but the only one I really listen to is the episode commentary for Battlestar Galactica. It's like getting the DVD special feature commentary track the day the episode airs.

And yeah, any MP3 player or your computer will play podcasts. If you have iTunes you can just subscribe to them and it will update whenever a new one has been posted.

I'd like to try them out, but I have yet to be able to get them to work. There's something about it that Apple isn't very clear about with getting RSS feeds to work with I-Tunes(or even if they will work with I-Tunes) with my I-pod, and using other programs I can't get them to download right or something.

Go to iTunes or audible.com and download the Ricky Gervais Show podcasts. Trust me. They will be the funniest things you have ever heard in your life.
