We all want our players to be entertaining by being good. Phillips is making fun of St. Louis food and saying the Reds are going to win. That's super tame.lukethedrifter wrote: Man, don't make me defend Modene on this. I want baseball players to be entertaining by being good at baseball mostly. Colorful is fine but self aggrandizement is not my idea of entertaining. Ochocinco? Not entertaining. But then again this is America where Donald Trump reigns supreme.

Like I said, it doesn't really get under my skin, but it would get old if more players followed Phillips's lead.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:We all want our players to be entertaining by being good. I may just have a short memory (I don't remember how I reacted to him last year), but I think his comments this year so far have been pretty tame and fun.
And while I don't dream about him, I'd take him at 2b in an instant. Guy can play.

I wonder what he'd say if the Cardinals picked him up. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would do a lot of backtracking to save face, but that would be a funny scenario.JCShutout wrote:I may just have a short memory (I don't remember how I reacted to him last year), but I think his comments this year so far have been pretty tame and fun.

I'm sure it would just be the normal "Just having some fun, building a rivalry, trying to pump my team up, getting the fans excited" stuff.ThatGuy wrote: I wonder what he'd say if the Cardinals picked him up. BTW, Cueto won't be in STL this weekend. He's in AAA on rehab, and was hammered for five runs in less than two innings last night.
