No doubt. That score could've been much more one-sided, but I'm always happy to see Man U go down. And whoever Rooney plays for.TimeForGuinness wrote:The goals by Villa and Messi were great strikesTambourine Man wrote:Time to hate on Rooney and stumpy people in general.

The Barca stuff is getting old. Spanish dominance in general, actually. Yes it's the game at it's highest, most-skilled form, but goddam it's predictable. Dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-dink-shot ad nauseum.
Messi is brilliant, Barca is brilliant, Spain is brilliant, but I need some variety.

Yup, Man U looked tough out of the gate (Rooney's goal was excellent), but after about 30 minutes...it was all Barcelona.Tambourine Man wrote:No doubt. I don't know if any of you have been following the ridiculous FIFA scandal stuff, but there's some some [expletive] going down. Funnily enough, it's all stemming from our neck of the woods in little 'ole CONCACAF (North, Central America and Caribbean Confederation).
Basically the #2 man in CONCACAF, a US AMERICAN named Chuck Blazer accused long time graft man, CONCACAF #1 Jack Warner of corruption. Pot calling the Kettle Black, yes, but still very obviously true. Also, the front runner to challenge Sep Blatter for FIFA president, Mohammed Bin-Hammam is accused of delivering cash to CONCACAF members for votes to get Qatar the 2022 World Cup. We all assumed this was happening at the time, but I don't think they realized how pissed Blazer would be when the US got screwed. Who knows if he actually is pissed or if he's just speaking out to appear like he's on the right side of this. With FIFA, it's a system based on mutual corruption, and I have no idea how this will shake out but bottom line, we might get the World Cup in 2022 yet.
Here's a quick breakdown by people who follow this closer than I (including an actual picture of the actual bag of cash delivered to one Caribbean delegate): http://www.noshortcorners.com/2011/05/y ... it-up.html

Here's what I saw Sunday. Cooper is supposed to be our ace, but he has not played well the last few weeks. We have no one to
push him though. The announcers suggest it's a call that isn't often made, is that true?

Very rarely called, although Hamid was certainly pushing the limits with how far he was creeping out. Typically no one says a word if you take a half step forward to set yourself and get ready right before the ball is struck, but Hamid took several baby steps that led him further out than most.

Just a reminder: The U.S. is scheduled to have their posterior handed to them by Spain in a friendly tomorrow.

Rare for sure. That was pushing it... I don't think either should have been called. Nah. The Spanish are treating this like an early holiday. We're gearing up for the Gold Cup. I wouldn't be shocked to see a win, let alone a draw.Fat Strat wrote:Just a reminder: The U.S. is scheduled to have their posterior handed to them by Spain in a friendly tomorrow.

Didn't anticipate Bob sending out the JV squad. Not sure how this helps our Gold Cup prep.
