You know how annoying it is when you are the only sober guy at a party where everyone else is drunk? That's kinda how I feel about Vegas.

It is close to Zion though, which is nice.

My recommendation is to walk around the strip and not over plan everything. Las Vegas is best when you just follow your id.


With only one day I agree downtown is not worthwhile , but if you're interested in a semi off strip dive casino I highly recommend Ellis Island Casino & Brewery. It's behind Bally's and about a 10 min walk. What's cool is they have an awesome on-site brewery, good cheap gaming and some great food specials. They're known for their 7.99 "off menu" steak special that comes with a beer (I hear it's decent). They also have a 12 dollar full slab of ribs with sides special that is actually pretty good.

As for buffet's, Wynn and Bellagio are tops and I've heard lots of good things about the Cosmopolitan's buffet. That said, I'm not a fan of buffets.

Also, if you and your friends are on a serious budget this link has a good coupon for Nathans, which is in the MGM. It's 2 for 1 on any menu items or combo deals.

I'm one that also suggests skipping the buffet. We tried the one at Caesars and that's know as one of the better ones & it was crap. Spent about $30 & it was definitely not worth it.

Not sure what casino it's in but I suggest the Carnegie deli...have yourself a GIANT pastrami or corned beef sandwich.

Carnegie deli is great, but I'd argue Canter's Deli in TI is even better.

If you're going to Vegas to eat, don't do that.

A lot of my Vegas memories are a blur, but I do remember one time for some reason waiting in a mega-line for breakfast. It toook about 30 minutes and finally we got some bland [expletive] and a $8 bloody mary that was [expletive]. I'd just as soon pack some deli meat, cheese and a loaf of bread as going through that rigamarole again. However, there are some sweet spots other than buffets you could go to.

I can't believe I'm the only one that loves O'Sheas. I figured it would be the hands down favorite of those on this board.

Haven't tried that one...honestly if he's only got a day in Vegas he's going to be overwhelmed with crap to do. Trying to search out places could be more of a pain in the ass than anything. Get there, get wasted, go w/ the flow & do whatever you run into that looks appealing because the entire strip area is filled w/ endless [expletive] to do.

I think I'm heading back out in late august so may have to give this other sandwich place a try!

We like going to the shows out there (well some of them at least). Has anyone seen the carrot top show in person? I know he gets dogged on all the time but I've heard his standup act is pretty hilarious.

I have wasted many hours in O'Sheas at their bar. I'm embarrassed to admit I often grab Burger King from O'Sheas around 4 AM to help fight the inevitable hangover. You have to respect any place that has beer pong and a midget dressed up as a leprechaun giving out shots.

If you really want to get tanked for cheap try the Stage Door behind Bills. You've been warned.
