Are there any OF'ers who would slow Taveras down? I can't think of any off the top of my head.phins wrote:Timelines are always up to two variables:

Re: Oscar Taveras
Sure. Holliday/Rasmus/Jay/Craig et al.
The team has to decide to bring him up before he is in the big leagues obviously.
The point is obvious; keep performing well, take advantage when an opportunity arises, via promotion or injury.
In the end, all of this stuff is ultimately up to the player. Pujols ripped through the minors because he was that good. He stuck with the big club because of an opportunity that arose.

Sure, I was just asking if there were any OF'ers who would block him potentially, maybe a few guys that I couldn't think of in PB, AA, etc. Seems like it's Taveras and almost nothing else, but I don't follow the system depth as much as many of you guys.phins wrote:Sure. Re: Oscar Taveras
I doubt it's coincidence that the Cardinals felt they could let Rasmus go given the great start for Taveras' career. Not saying he can start in a year, or even two or three, but Taveras probably made it a little easier to let him go, no?

To be honest, I doubt Taveras' start has anything to do with Rasmus being traded - the trade has everything to do with the fact that Tony doesn't like him.

They clearly got rid of him to get rid him so no. Taveras isn't expected until 2014.Cronos wrote:I doubt it's coincidence that the Cardinals felt they could let Rasmus go given the great start for Taveras' career. and, from what has been said here (in this thread/or another) is the people who really follow the minors say that taveras is only a corner outfielder...so we still need a CF regardless...

Chambers is a 4th OF'er, Brown a fringe guy, then a few others who have a chance toFat Strat wrote:Sure, I was just asking if there were any OF'ers who would block him potentially, maybe a few guys that I couldn't think of in PB, AA, etc. Seems like it's Taveras and almost nothing else, but I don't follow the system depth as much as many of you guys.phins wrote:Sure. make the bigs. Taveras is the only guy we have that starts for a first division club.
They like Rainel Rosario, but I'm not sure he's defined what he is yet.
At least to this point.
