Re: Oscar Taveras
This is the first time I can remember where the milb players of the year will be tough calls. You've got to think Miller will edge out Martinez, though that could change, for pitcher of the year. But, for player of the year you've got Adams having an incredible year and now that Taveras is healthy he's really having an impressive year and even recently Cox has been turning it on. It's tough to pass Adams over, but if Taveras stays healthy and keeps it up, you've probably got to go with him.

Re: Oscar Taveras
Taveras doesn't have enough (and won't have enough) PA's to be considered player of the year. Adams should win that. Adams has 377 pa's with a 980 ops. Taveras has 223 pa's with a 997 ops.
For pitcher, I would give it to Martinez. Miller has done what's expected. Martinez has exceeded expectations. At least in my opinion.

Saw Oscar go 3-4 with 2 doubles tonight. Bandits lost, but a nice night for Oscar.

Taveras is playing AZ Fall League, as are Matt Mothergrabbin' Adams, Ryan Jackson, Keith Butler, David Kopp, Tyler Lyons and Justin Wright.
Taveras will be the 2nd youngest player in the AFL this year, after Bryce Harper.

Bryce Harper kind of sucked in AA ball. How fun would it be if he turned out to be Brandon Wood?

0.000000000001 fun.
Even though he's a jerk.
Baseball needs kids like Wood and Harper to succeed so it draws in more talented teenagers like Josh Bell who have other opportunities.

before we go declaring him Brandon Wood, let's see if he hits in the high minors with that softball swing.

Ha! Bryce Harper is 18 years old. His skill set is among the top 2 or 3 in all of baseball.
I think he makes his major league debut next year as a 19 y/o. That's bona fide.

Re: Oscar Taveras
If Taveras makes a strong showing in the AFL he might just jump to AA next year out of the gate. That would be pretty exciting to have a kid on the serious fast track to the majors.
