Missouri State...picked 6th in their conference, blew out pre-season WAC fave Nevada by 22, and then blew out West division fave Arkansas State, both on the road. May not be a tourney team, but much better than expected after losing four starters. Play Tulsa tomorrow.

Iona- Beating up on BCS teams, athletic, added Arizona tourney stud Momo Jones at PG, and received a waiver to be eligible immediately. Very good team.

Creighton- Now ranked in top-25, but have the best player you've never seen in Doug McDermott. A 6-8 inside/outside threat, he made the U19 USA team, and is averaging 20/10 thus far. Former top-50 recruit at C in Echenique, and several other talented kids. This team is awesome.

Campbell- Deep sleeper here...blew Iowa out on their home floor, and 5-0. Face big challenge today at Creighton. Athletic team, undersized, but pressure you.

Good year non-BCS teams. Missouri Valley and A-10 very good leagues this year. Both could finish ahead of Pac-12 in RPI.

KenPom: Iona 46, Missouri State 52, Creighton 50...

RPI: Iona 43, MO State 29, Creighton 42. SLU at 10, Mizzou at 4. Good year for Missouri thus far.

Missouri State beat Tulsa in OT. Great college game.

The Bills are really fun to watch. Conklin is something else.

Billikens whip Oklahoma too. Staying under the radar is not really a bad thing at this point.

I can't believe how well Conklin is doing. The past couple seasons I hated him. Seemed like he could never land any shots.

Anyway, the Bills are still undefeated... and have won every game by double didgits. They smoked SIUC at SIUC, then went on to win the tournement out in California beating Washington, Boston College, Villanova, and Oklahoma in the process. As long as nobody rapes anybody this season, I think they have a pretty good shot at making the tournement. Also, there's talk that the top 3 A10 teams will get a spot in the tounement, which would bode well for SLU, though I think they have a shot at topping Xavier for 1st.

Way to go Runnin' Rebs. My favorite team since the days of Phi Slamma Jamma.

Well it shouldn't be a surprise, this is where the Bills would have been last year if things didn't go horribly wrong. I think Conklin took a lot of the leadership stress last year when Reed and Mitchell (and Ellis later in the year) went down...couple that with Majerus getting sick for a few weeks, and it's no surprise the Bills went sub .500 last year. The only good thing that happened last year is that all of the freshman got a ton of minutes/playing time...that seems to be paying off this year.

Conklin has finally filled into his role, and with Mitchell back to lead the offense, everything is clicking. Conklin is having a breakout year, Mitchell looks like he hasn't lost much of a step. Ellis finally looks like a decent basketball player, and Cassity is somehow hitting three's. Jett, Loe, and Evans are also looking pretty strong for their second years.

I think this is the team that Majerus has been trying to assemble since he got here, but he had to go through a few years of freshman-only teams. His team, now, seems much more balanced age-wise. He has a few good freshman on the bench and a few good recruits coming in next year. Barring any health problems with Majerus (or major setbacks like last year), I think the Billikens will make a nice run this year (and years to come).

Hopefully we can get a NIT bid, but it looks like this team is gunning for the NCAA. After Loyola Marymount, the Bills have their next 6 games at home. If they stay focused, they could really get some attention. It's still early, and I'm trying to temper my homerism, but I haven't been this excited since Spoonhour.
