Yes, but they were in a different time zone, and four games in six days is a lot for any team. It's disappointing, but not surprising, that they lost last night. You could tell they were fatigued in the second half. I think they'll run the table for the rest of the year. The next tough game they have is at New Mexico on New Year's Eve.phins wrote:That was only SLU's second road game of the year. Yea, but it's been a while since they've been in St. Louis. Just because they're at a neutral court doesn't mean they have the luxury of being at home, seeing friends, molesting girls at Laclede's, etc.phins wrote:That was only SLU's second road game of the year. Definitely a good start to the season for SLU, even with last night. But agree with the tempered enthusiasm mantra.
This is like April in MLB. There are a lot of weird results and upsets early in the season. Not to diminish the SLU victories-but they have players that accumulated experience last year, so they should be ready. As opposed to teams with new players that are still figuring out this level etc and will improve as the season goes.
There's a long way to go.

You said road game, and I was merely advising they weren't road games. Neutral court is different.cards2468 wrote:Yea, but it's been a while since they've been in St. Louis. Missouri State saw how hard the road can be with a terrible performance in a road loss to Oral Roberts.

"playing road games"
2468 was just saying they were tired.

Not sure how playing a lot of games lately on the road isn't the same as playing road games though.

2 teams playing far from home on a neutral court vs playing on someone's home court.

If the Cardinals went to Detroit to play the Cubs due to Wrigley collapsing or something, they're still on the road.

They didn't have to face the hostility of a road crowd but an empty stadium in Anaheim is pretty much the same as an empty stadium at Loyola-Marymount. The point is, it had been a long time since they were in St. Louis.
