Yeah, that's where I am with this. It's just disappointing because it really changes my opinion of him as a person. I'm not going to boo him, but I'm certainly not going to applaud him ever again. But, it's not like he went to a team like the Orioles and went only for the money. The Angels are a good organization, with some pieces in place, and a good manager. I can see why that spot was attractive to Pujols. If he had gone only for the money, I'd be kind of upset right now.

And like you said, the FO did all they could, and worked as hard as they could, but they didn't go Jim Hendry and just throw stupid money and years like Moreno and company did just to get him.

Does Matt Adams get promoted?

Also, I wonder how much extra income Pujols will bring in in regards to the Angels Media interests (their television contract and radio contract)

In baseball, you get paid in your 2nd contract for what you do in your first one. This is not new. It's also not new thinking that paying for that 2nd contract is incredibly bad baseball unless you are a team like the Yankees that doesn't seem to care about money. It sucks, this was a rare circumstance that I would have been okay with them breaking the bank for. But, if it was gonna be 10/230 that the cards had to put up, I'm fine with letting him walk.

It was good for Pujols and good for the Cards. The likely 'losers' though there may not be one is the Angels.

It's funny to me how this just further cements the criss-crossing of the Angels and Cardinals franchises over the last decade. Cardinals made a mid-00's run off of guys like Spezio, Eckstein, Glaus, etc. Now the Angels have EX-CARDINAL Albert Pujols.

Get used to that.
