Another good thing: at least he goes to a different AL team than the Sawx or Yankees.

Disagree. It's not that he took that much money to go and play for the Orioles, Pirates, Cubs or Royals. If he had done that, then yes, it would have been only for the money.

The Angels are a good team ready to win right now, with a good manager and a payroll (that has obviously become ginormous) dedicated to winning.

The Cardinals are in as good a position to win as the Angels. So essentially, being a Cardinal meant virtually nothing to him. He wanted the money.

I'm not saying that I blame him for wanting the money....... but don't pretend it's not about the money when it really is.

I've lost respect for him.
It wasn't all about the money. The Cardinals offer is simply not competitive compared to what the Angels were offering.

Good for Pujols. He gets a boatload of cash and can DH while playing for a winner in the short-term. Good for Cardinals. Aside from the emotional disappointment, they can't pay one player that much. Good for Angels? Maybe, but probably not. Hard to see this deal working out financially.

Wouldn't that mean by definition it was about the money?

I'd like to hear his reasoning before I agree or disagree.

The point is that there's a difference in going to a team that's offering $50M more versus a team that's offering $1M more. The latter is an example of someone being "all about money", the former is simply common sense.

I just wish he'd gone to a better offensive stadium where his numbers would have held up longer. I don't fault him for taking the offer and, depending on the details, I don't fault the Cardinals for not matching the offer.
