I should be helping this topic die, but this is what I don't get. Where did this happen? I admit he's over-rationalizing a business decision and you can justifiably disagree that the Cardinals insulted him, but taking a deal worth $50 million more dollars hardly qualifies as an offensive gesture. The insults being thrown his way are pretty juvenile, in my opinion. This thread reads like something on NSBB.
Did you ignore the first half of my post?
I don't see how that affects the middle finger statement. If you take that part out, I get what you're saying and I understand being upset, but suggesting that what he's done is somehow a deliberate personal insult is the weird part. I don't know. I never understand when people insult players in game threads either, so I guess this is the same thing. I'm completely bummed about this, but I don't understand responding that way. Never mind repeatedly. I've lost count how many times I've read "Buh-bye Albert" in here.

My whole post is supposed to show reality vs. what is acceptable for a fan to feel. What he did was logical from a business sense, but for the emotional investment we fans put into the game, it is 100% viewable as a middle finger. I can't blame him, but if we're not allowed to feel emotions with the movement in the game, then what the hell is the purpose in being a fan?

No you don't get it, he was great for us and left for more money and we HAVE to respect that. You can't feel any human emotion and you have to wish Albert the best. Since this is St. Louis when he comes back you need to roll out the red carpet and give him a standing ovation. Don't ever question a former Cardinal player or dislike him for his actions. It's just not the Cardinal fan way.
In all seriousness though I'm pretty tired of people telling others how they should feel about this. If people feel Albert gave them the middle finger, if they want to hate Albert, burn jerseys, or boo him then that's their right. Some people invest a lot of time and money into being a Cardinal fan. Families save for a whole year so they can go to St. Louis once and watch the team and sometimes fans and especially kids invest a lot of emotion into it. As some of you know I make tombstones for a living and atleast a half dozen times a year I put a St. Louis Cardinal logo on a tombstone for someone. Think about that, they love the Cardinals so much that they want the logo forever on their tombstone. That's a huge emotional investment into the team. I guess if the people of this board don't see that and understand it then I don't understand why they are here or why they even like the team.

Excellent post. Got my point across a lot better than I did.
It's funny how I've progressed over the last few months:
1.) After the Cardinals won the World Series, "Albert will never leave us!"
2.) After Marlins offer, "Who would want to play there, they'll just flip him...still confident that he'll be a Cardinal"
3.) After Pujols signs with Angels, "This Sucks!...but I understand...." (Sadness)
4.) After a week since the signing, "I'll just watch his spreadsheets update...like every other player"
1. After winning World Series: "Well, this certainly gives them cover not to break the bank for Albert."
2. After TLR leaves: "One less thing keeping him here."
3. After Marlins offer: "No way does he leave for the Marlins."
4. After moving away from Marlins offer: "Is he actually going to stay?"
5. After signing with the Angels: "Can't blame him for taking that over the Cards' offer."
6. After the Pujols family pissed off everyone else with their media blitz: "Yeah, that story actually makes sense."
The Cardinals didn't want him back at nearly the kind of contract others were offering. I did, but objectively it's hard to justify
